SAE J1939 Enabled Temperature Scanner Monitor up to 20 Thermocouples and Two RTDs

Posted by Industry News on

Axiomatic AX180800 temperature scanner

Axiomatic, a designer and manufacturer of electronic controllers and power management converters, introduced their AX180800 temperature scanner that monitors up to 20 thermocouples and two RTDs. The device features two SAE J1939 interfaces.

The channels are independently configurable as Type J, K, B, E, N, R, S or T thermocouples, measuring exhaust, winding, and fluid temperature. All temperature data are automatically transmitted over the CAN network as soon as power is applied. No additional programming or configuration is required. The SAE J1939 Parameter Groups are manufacturer-specific. In addition to the TC (thermocouple) and RTD (resistance temperature detector) inputs, there are four universal signal command inputs and six Form-C relay outputs. Integral diagnostics determine thermocouple integrity.

All inputs are galvanically isolated from the CAN Bus lines and the power supply. The two CAN Bus channels are also isolated, allowing for different CAN Bus networks to be connected. The network separation also reflects in the software where each CAN Bus channel acts independently, and incoming or outgoing J1939 messages can be assigned to a specific CAN channel. The scanner comes in a rugged IP67-rated enclosure and is suitable for control systems for industrial and marine power generator sets.

Introduction To The NMEA 2000 Marine Networking Standard

NMEA 2000 is a marine networking standard created and administered by the National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA). The NMEA is an association of marine electronics manufacturers, dealers, and technicians. The NMEA 2000 standard describes a low-cost, moderate capacity, bi-directional, multi-transmitter, multi-receiver instrument network. Typical data on a network using this standard include position latitude and longitude, [...]
