SAE J1939 Data Scanner Monitors Multiple PT1000 Inputs From A Diesel Engine

Posted by Industry News on

AX184200 20 PT1000 RTD scanner with CAN Bus (SAE J1939) connection

Axiomatic Technologies introduced their AX184200 20 PT1000 RTD scanner with CAN Bus (SAE J1939) connection. It features rugged packaging and watertight Deutsch IPD connectors for an IP67 rating. The system does not require additional programming or configuration.

The scanner monitors 20 2-wire PT1000 inputs from a diesel engine and forwards the temperature information to the engine control system using an SAE J1939 connection. All temperature data are automatically transmitted per CAN Bus (SAE J1939) after power-up. The temperature information includes exhaust, winding, and fluid temperature monitoring.

Integral diagnostics determine RTD integrity. The RTD inputs are isolated from the CAN Bus network and power supply. During set-up, through a USB-CAN converter and a PC, the operator configures the controller via the Electronic Assistant according to application requirements.

The RTD scanner meets the environmental, EMC (electromagnetic compatibility), and vibrational requirements of vehicle applications. It features exceptional protection, including reverse polarity protection. The power supply input section protects against transients, surges (up to 175 V), and short circuits, and it is isolated from the RTD inputs.

Axiomatic designs electronics for rugged applications, including engine temperature monitoring, implementing reliable solutions for various engine control automation applications.

SAE J1939 Starter Kit And Network Simulator

SAE J1939 Starter Kit and Network Simulator

The JCOM.J1939 Starter Kit And Network Simulator is designed to allow the experienced engineer as well as the beginner to experiment with SAE J1939 data communication without the need of connecting to a real-world J1939 network, i.e., a diesel engine.

In order to establish a network, you need at least two nodes. That fact applies especially to CAN/J1939, where the CAN controller will shut down after transmitting data without receiving a response. For that reason, our jCOM.J1939 Starter Kit And Network Simulator consists of two J1939 nodes, namely our jCOM.J1939.USB, an SAE J1939 ECU Simulator Board With USB Port.

The jCOM.J1939.USB gateway board is a high-performance, low-latency vehicle network adapter for SAE J1939 applications. The board supports the full SAE J1939 protocol according to J1939/81 Network Management (Address Claiming) and J1939/21 Transport Protocol (TP).
