RFID Reader Device Supports CANopen, SAE J1939 Data Monitoring And Recording For IoT, IIoT Applications
Posted by
onThe Bluebox CX series by iDTRONIC (Germany) represent CAN-Bus-connectible RFID reader devices supporting the CANopen and SAE J1939 higher-layer protocols.
The CAN Bus data monitoring and recording is made possible using the CAN Bus connection (CANopen or SAE J1939), RS232/485, or Wiegand interfaces. The CAN Bus also manages the real-time transmission of ongoing processes in automotive, medical technology, or agricultural applications, while the EIA-232/EIA-485 interface is dedicated to machine control. The Wiegand interface denotes a port for the identification and evaluation of access control data. A USB interface is available for service purposes. The RFID readers are IP67-protected and support an operating temperature range of -20 °C to +55 °C, making them suitable for harsh industrial or agricultural environments.
For instance, the RFID readers can be used to identify attachments on agriculture tractors where the RFID antenna is mounted on the vehicle's gripping arm. The reader classifies multiple external parts with the attached RFID transponders, such as excavator bucket or drills, and a system controller is mounted next to the steering wheel. The transponder transmits data of the connected part via the antenna on the gripper arm to the RFID reader. The reader sends the data to the central control system via the CAN Bus network.
The devices come with a software development kit (SDK) supporting the development of customized applications.
SAE J1939 Gateway And Data Logger With Real-Time Clock
The SAE J1939 Gateway And Data Loggers are ideal for vehicle fleet management (trucks, buses, agricultural equipment, and any other diesel engine application), prototype field testing, diagnostics, or reverse engineering.
The SAE J1939 Gateway And Data Loggers record SAE J1939 message frames (PGNs) onto an onboard MicroSD memory card and timestamps them with a real-time clock (RTC). Alternatively, it can be used for mere SAE J1939 data monitoring and viewing.
In record mode, the gateway reads the data traffic without being connected to a PC. A free-of-charge Windows software is available for the device setup (PGN filtering, message-sampling frequency, etc.) as well as reviewing and re-playing the SAE J1939 data.
The data file format is Microsoft-Excel-compatible (.csv), and the data file can be retrieved directly from the SD card for further processing.
Furthermore, the data logger offers an optional feature to include GPS information attached to the data.
RFID Reader Writer Device With Optional CAN Bus Interface
Elatec announced its TWN4 Multitech 3 BLE module with optional CAN Bus interface. The RFID reader/writer device is designed for OEM (original equipment manufacturer) applications. It supports many current RFID standards for the frequency ranges 125 kHz and 134,2 kHz as well as the 13,56-MHz band, including NFC (near field communication). An optional CAN interface is available to support [...]
Family Of Transponder Readers And Writers Supports CAN Bus, USB, I2C, SPI, UART
The TWN4 MultiTech Nano RFID modules are also fully TWN technology compliant RFID readers. Their miniature size and low energy consumption allows for integration in smaller battery powered consumer devices like tablet PCs, POS terminals, mobile payment systems, etc. The TWN4 Multitech Nano is a device for reading and writing RFID transponders. The optional I/O extender unit enables to [...]
