Interpreting CAN Bus, LIN Bus, RS485, RS232 Networks Per Logic Analyzer
Posted by
onIkalogic (France) has launched a series of test instruments, including the SP209, a nine-channel, 200‑MHz logic analyzer which can, among other serial technologies, interpret CAN Bus protocols.
The series aims to analyze CMOS logic signals and industrial networks alike. The SP209 combines specific receivers for most common industrial systems like CAN Bus, LIN Bus, EIA‑485, or EIA‑232. The logic analyzers provide a 200‑MHz sampling rate, but unlike various competitor’s solutions, it allows the user to use all nine channels at the maximum sampling rate, which results into no more trade-offs between the number of active channels and the sampling rate.
All this is possible due to an embedded 2‑Gb memory that buffers the captured signals before sending them to the computer where they are displayed. Another significant advantage are the Trigger IN and Trigger OUT SMA connectors that allow the user to synchronize the product to other lab equipment, ultimately building a test setup. This latest series of logic analyzers offers state mode operation with an external clock up to 50 MHz and comes with a software that provides in-depth analysis and protocol decoding features. Ikalogic offers two versions, a standard version, and an industrial version.
Features
- 9 logic channels with adjustable thresholds (1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V, 5V)
- State of the art input stage, with Schmitt triggers that eliminate glitches on slow signals
- 200 MHz sampling rate, with all 9 channels used.
- External clock option (state mode), up to 50MHz
- Precise trigger-In and trigger-Out signals on SMA ports
- Samples compression and streaming via USB.
- 2Gb DDR-3 memory kicks-in when USB isn't fast enough.
- Embedded receivers on industrial version: SP209i (RS232, CAN, LIN, RS485).
- Guaranteed performances on all hosts.
Raspberry Pi 3 System With Dual Isolated CAN Bus Interface
The Raspberry Pi 3 System With Dual Isolated CAN Bus Interfaces (PiCAN2) comes with a pre-installedRaspbian operating system.
The PiCAN2 DUO ISO board provides Controller Area Network (CAN) Bus capabilities for the Raspberry Pi. It uses the Microchip MCP2515 CAN controller with MCP2551 CAN transceiver. Connection are made via 4-way screw terminals.
There is an easy-to-install SocketCAN driver, and programming can be accomplished in C or Python.
Features
- Raspberry Pi 3, Model B+, 1 GB RAM.
- Raspberry Pi 8GB Preloaded (NOOBS) SD Card - SanDisk Extreme 8GB microSDHC UHS-1 with speed up to 48 MB/sec.
- PiCAN2 - CAN Bus Interface for Raspberry Pi.
- The enclosure is made from High Impact Polystyrene HIPS UL94-HB material. Mounting flanges allow for wall mounting.
