Industrial-Strength IoT Kit With Battery-Backed RTC Chip For Raspberry Pi
Posted by
onAdvantech, a manufacturer of embedded platform solutions, announced its UNO-220 Raspberry Pi-ready industrial-grade gateway kit.
In keeping with current Internet-of-Things (IoT) technology trends, UNO-220 is suitable for customers using the Raspberry Pi single-board computers (SBCs) for creating dedicated IoT applications. Equipped with a micro SD card with OS image and Raspberry Pi HAT I/O board, the UNO-220 industrial-grade chassis converts the Raspberry Pi 4 into an intelligent gateway with additional RS-232/485 GPIO and an RTC battery for maintaining precise time and date information. The UNO-220 comes without the Raspberry Pi SBC, but the pre-finished mounting holes and accompanying attachment screws guarantee an assembly without requiring special tools or technical expertise.
Advantech’s UNO-220 industrial-grade chassis carries a Raspberry Pi HAT and an I/O board for the convenient installation of the Raspberry Pi CPU. Designed to work as an intelligent gateway for various IoT operations, the UNO-220’s aluminum housing provides enhanced heat dissipation, and ESD protection offers the most suitable protection for Raspberry Pi SBCs. Furthermore, all system ports are accessible from the outside, aiding hardware configuration and maintenance without the need to disassemble the entire chassis.
The integrated RPi HAT I/O board allows plug-and-play compatibility with Raspberry Pi 4 SBCs (excluding soldering). It features an RTC battery as well as four additional GPIO and one RS-232/485 serial port for the integration of external sensors, devices, or controllers. The capability to add physical hardware to the RPi’s GPIO connector enables customers to extend the system functionalities according to specific application requirements. Meanwhile, the RTC battery ensures that configuration and time settings are retained even when the unit is powered off.
RPi SBCs operate in the open-source ecosystem and typically execute a suite of open-source software that includes the Raspbian operating system. Accordingly, the UNO-220 chassis is equipped with an 8 GB internal SD card with a preloaded OS image. The OS image allows the RPi SBCs to recognize the UNO-220 hardware and automatically configure the GPIOs and drivers, allowing the board to support Raspbian and related application software. Overall, these innovative features and Raspberry Pi-ready design make UNO-220 a cost-efficient industrial-grade gateway for developing and deploying various IoT solutions.
Features
- Tiny size for RPi-based IoT solution (100x 70x 33 mm)
- Industrial grade I/O board for the Raspberry Pi
- Battery-backed RTC chip for keeping the track of time
- The inclusion of OS allows the RPi to identify UNO-220 and automatically configure the GPIOs and drivers for the board
Raspberry Pi 3 B+ System With Dual Isolated CAN Bus Interface
Our Raspberry Pi 3 System With CAN Bus Interface (PiCAN2) comes with a pre-installed Raspbian operating system.
The Raspberry Pi 3 B+ is equipped with a high-performance heatsink set to reduce chip hot-spots and to increase the thermal dissipation surface area.
The PiCAN2 DUO ISO board provides Controller Area Network (CAN) Bus capabilities for the Raspberry Pi. It uses the Microchip MCP2515 CAN controller with MCP2551 CAN transceiver. Connection are made via 4-way screw terminals.
There is an easy-to-install SocketCAN driver, and programming can be accomplished in C or Python.
