CAN Bus Data Logger Comes With USB And WiFi Connectivity

Posted by Industry News on

The CANLogger3000 is a simple-to-use, configurable & powerful stand-alone CAN-bus analyzer.

CSS (Denmark) has announced its CANLogger3000, a device that stores recorded CAN Bus data on a 16-GiB SD-card. The device is also available within the United States.

The logged bus traffic can be retrieved per Wifi connection at up to 70 Mbit/s or via USB. In stationary mode, the data-logger is able to connect to a Wifi hotspot – e.g. a router, smartphone hotspot, or mobile truck hotspot. This makes it suitable for logging CAN frames, J1939 messages, or OBDII messages.

The FTP push mode allows the logger to push log files to an FTP server, when the tool is connected to a hotspot. This enables the user to collect continuously data across e.g. hundreds of loggers. With the free-of-charge CANvas software, the user can convert (using *.dbc files) and merge the data.

The data-logger offers configuration possibilities such as frame/message filtering, down-sampling, automatic bit-rate detection, cyclic-logging, heartbeat signal, and runtime logging control. A recently added feature is the ability to transmit up to 20 customer-specified CAN messages (for e.g. OBDII logging) and a serial interface letting the logger act as a wired CAN interface for streaming real-time data (incl. integration with Wireshark via CANvas). The tool configuration can be done on a PC and requires no special software – or via the CANvas software. To simplify configuration and to test the CAN connection, the device display the CAN traffic in real-time on a PC using the USB-connection.
