Advantech launched their SMARC 2.1 SOM‑2532 module, designed with real-time automation control, edge-connected, and safety-critical applications in mind.

The module combines the 10-nm Intel Elkhart Lake processor with up to four cores and 16‑GiB LPDDR4 memory. The CPU (Central Processing Unit) performance is improved by a margin of more than 40 % and graphic performance up to two times compared to the previous model.

The design includes two CAN FD ports, two GbE LAN interfaces with TSN (Time-Sensitive Networking) Phy (physical layer), and three independent displays with up to 4K‑resolution. Alternatively, it is possible to use the CAN ports in Classical CAN mode. The TSN Phy improves the data synchronization precision over the network and minimizes jitter reducing latency during real-time device communication. Consequently, the device is well suited for usage for industrial control, transportation, and medical applications. Additional peripherals include four PCIe, one Sata, two USB 3.2, four USB 2.0, and 14 GPIO (General-Purpose I/Os) ports.

The two LAN interfaces can connect multiple systems or schedule firmware updates using Advantech's Wise-Paas/Ota server. Users can also manage external communication via an independent LAN under various usage conditions. Additionally, the design provides functional safety features to reduce the dangers caused by a system malfunction. The module supports an extended operating temperature range from -40 °C to +85 °C.

Copperhill technologies - Teensy 4.1 Triple CAN Bus Board with 240x240 LCD and Ethernet

Teensy 4.1 Triple CAN Bus Board with 240x240 LCD and Ethernet

The Teensy 4.1 board comes with triple CAN Bus connections, two CAN 2.0B and one CAN FD, and ethernet magjack. It can be powered by an external +12 VDC with reverse voltage protection. Included is also a 240x240 wide-angle IPS TFT LCD display.

The Teensy 4.1 is an Arduino-compatible board with an Arm Cortex-M7 microcontroller running at 600 MHz. The board is compatible with the Arduino IDE and the Arduino library. In most cases, code written for another Arduino board works with a minimum of changes on a Teensy. As the name implies, the board is tiny. For example, the current form factor is only about 18 by 36 millimeters. However, do not let the size mislead you; these boards pack a ton of functionality. For example, the new Teensy 4.1 features a megabyte of RAM, two megabytes of Flash, a bevy of I/O options, cryptographic support, a hardware floating-point processor (FPU), and a built-in real-time clock (RTC).
