Embedded IoT Gateway Connects CAN Bus FD To The Cloud Per LTE Or WLAN
Posted by
onJanz Tec (Germany) has developed the emIOT-A/iMX6 gateway. It connects CAN FD networks with wireless communication networks such as LTE and WLAN.
Besides its CAN-PMC/FD and CAN-PCIe/FD boards, Janz Tec offers the IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) gateway with CAN FD interfaces. The CAN FD interface is ISO 11898-1:2015 compliant. The extended temperature range of -40 °C to +75 °C allows employing the device in harsh environments. The product is suitable for applications in vehicles, construction, and agriculture machinery as well as in medical devices, and other embedded control systems.
The IIoT gateway will be available by the end of the year. The i-MX6 quad-core central processing unit (CPU) by NXP provides sufficient computing power for the gateway functionality. Furthermore, Janz Tec offers application-specific versions and software integration services. Due to its small footprint, the gateway is suitable for applications within restricted space.
Features
- ARM Quadcore embedded IoT system for high performance and energy efficient applications
- Edge Computing Gateway with UMTS and LTE
- Support of LPWAN technologies like LTE NB-IoT for Industrial IoT solutions
- Integrated Wi-Fi for internal networking applications
- GPS positioning for M2M solutions in decentralized environments
- Extended temperature range
PiCAN with GPS - Gyro - Accelerometer CAN-Bus Board for Raspberry Pi 3
The PiCAN GPS board provides CAN-Bus and GPS capability for the Raspberry Pi. It uses the Microchip MCP2515 CAN controller. CAN connections are made via 4 way screw terminal plugs. The GPS is provided by a 66-channels MTK3339 chipset module. An onboard battery holder exists for a CR1225 cell. The backup power is for the real time clock and helps reduce startup times. The GPS module has a built-in patch antenna but an external active antenna can also be used via uFL connector.
The MPU-6050 provides six axis gyro and accelerometer with an onboard Digital Motion Processor (DMPTM) capable of processing complex 9-axis MotionFusion algorithms. It does away with the cross-axis alignment problems that can creep up on discrete parts.
Easy to install SocketCAN driver. Programming can be done in C or Python.
