IoT-Enabled Control, Data Logger, and Data Transmission Platform with CAN Bus Interface
The RapidM2M C3 by Microtronics represents a control, data logger, and data transmission platform with IoT capabilities, suitable for remote control, automation, and control tasks in industrial automation.
The device includes a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), router, firewall, and data transmission to a web platform. Process-related requirements are pre-configured, minimizing the solution integration effort. Data from analog sensors and signal transmitters can be acquired via the analog input (4 mA to 20 mA). CAN Bus, EIA-232, and EIA-485 interfaces enable communication with machines, control units, or sensors with digital interfaces. Relay outputs support further control tasks and remote control. The RapidM2M C3e 12UI/2Rel extension module enlarges the base unit with twelve universal inputs and two potential-free switching contacts for controlling actuators. The RapidM2M C3e 3mA/6Rel module adds three analog outputs and six relays.
The device can be configured via IoT (Internet of Things) apps, and demo IoT apps are available for multiple applications. In addition, the development of customized IoT apps via the RapidM2M Studio is also possible.
The unit integrates into the IoT platform without further effort, and additional functionality, such as alerts, dashboards, and reports, can be created within minutes. Firmware updates, applications, and configurations load remotely using a web login. They are stored in the IoT app as blueprints, which reduces commissioning time and the susceptibility to errors due to multiple similar installations. Integration into other systems is supported via web interfaces such as Restful API or OPC-UA.
ESP32 WiFi, Bluetooth Classic, BLE, CAN Bus Module
This board comes with an onboard ESP32 WROOM-32 WiFi, Bluetooth Classic, BLE Module, and a CAN Bus port with a transceiver. Also, onboard is an RGB LED, IO pins on a 0.1" pad.
Programming is accomplished through the popular Arduino IDE connected to the USB-to-Serial converter with USB-C connector, automatic bootloader and reset.
The ESP32 is a series of low-cost, low-power system-on-chip microcontrollers with integrated Wi-Fi and dual-mode Bluetooth. The ESP32 series employs a Tensilica Xtensa LX6 microprocessor in both dual-core and single-core variations and includes built-in antenna switches, RF balun, power amplifier, low-noise receive amplifier, filters, and power management modules.
