GSM/GPRS/GPS SIM808 Shield For Arduino

Our GSM/GPRS/GPS board is an Arduino shield based on the Quad-band GSM/GPRS/GPS module SIM808, rendering cellular and GPS tracking, all in one module.

It allows you to add location-tracking, voice, text, SMS, and data to your application. This shield fits right on your Arduino or compatible device.

At the heart is a powerful GSM cellular module (we use the latest SIM808) with integrated GPS. This module can do just about everything.

The module is controlled by AT command via UART and supports 3.3 VDC and 5 VDC logical level.

In order to provide a quick start for programming the SIM800 module in combination with the Arduino, we have assembled several online references as follows:

Quickstart SIM 800 (SIM800L) With Arduino

SIM800 is one of the most commonly used GSM module among hobbyists and Arduino community. Even though AT command reference is available with a quick Google search, it is not very easy for a beginner to properly understand and use Arduino with SIM800. Therefore, this post summarizes how a beginner could interact with SIM800 using Arduino and in few future posts we’ll be going ahead with several other real life use cases discussing how SIM800 can be used with Arduino effectively. Read more...

The SIM800 Cellular Module And Arduino: A Powerful IoT Combo

The Internet of Things (IoT) has been a trending field in the world of technology. From consumer electronics to business and industrial processes, IoT has changed the way we work. Physical objects and the digital world are connected now more than ever.

The SIM800 from SimCom and the Arduino UNO are two of the most popular development modules to get you started with IoT. These two modules are highly recommended due to their popularity and support from the hobbyist and developers’ community. Read more...

Send Receive SMS & Call With SIM800L GSM Module & Arduino

Whether you want to listen to what happens in your house that’s miles away from you or activate sprinkler system in your garden just with a silent call; Then SIM800L GSM/GPRS module serves as a solid launching point for you to get you started with IoT!

SIM800L GSM/GPRS module is a miniature GSM modem, which can be integrated into a great number of IoT projects. You can use this module to accomplish almost anything a normal cell phone can; SMS text messages, Make or receive phone calls, connecting to internet through GPRS, TCP/IP, and more! To top it off, the module supports quad-band GSM/GPRS network, meaning it works pretty much anywhere in the world. Read more...

Setting up GPRS with SIM800L

SIM800L supports General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) for connecting to the internet with HTTP. The module has built in TCP/IP stack that can be accessed with AT commands. This can be very handy for persistent data logging on low bandwidth networks. We will first use the AT commands to make a HTTP GET request to fetch a simple page and then use the library.

Going further I would also like to explore possibility of running MQTT, which is more suitable for low data rate and seamless logging. So let's get started. Read more...
