PCIe Board Supports Up To Four Isolated CAN Bus Or CAN FD Ports

Posted by Industry News on

The PCAN-M.2 by PEAK System allows the connection of classical CAN Bus and CAN FD networks via M.2 interface (PCI Express, PCIe) as supported by modern computers. With its small form factor, the plug-in card is ideal for embedded PCs, single-board computers (SBC), and compact embedded applications. There is a galvanic isolation between the computer and the CAN side, protecting up to 300 Volts. The card is available as a single, dual, or four-channel version.

As with the single- and dual-channel versions, the four-channel board in form factor 2280 has a contact strip with B+M key. The length can also be adjusted from 80 mm to 60 mm via a predetermined breaking point. The card can be used on any motherboard size from Mini-ITX to E-ATX. Thus, the plug-in board is suitable for desktop and industrial PC cases of various sizes. Application fields of the CAN FD interface are embedded systems, such as those found in motor vehicles, railways, and aircraft.

Device drivers are available for the Windows (10, 8.1, and 7) and Linux operating systems. The programming interface PCAN-Basic, an API for the development of applications with Classical CAN Bus and CAN FD connection, and the monitor software PCAN-View are included in delivery.
