XMC Board With Four CAN Bus FD Ports And Optional IRIG-B

XMC Board with 4 CAN FD Interfaces via DSUB 25 and optional IRIG-B

esd electronics announces their XMC-CAN/402-4-FD, an XMC board that comes with four independent CAN FD (CAN With Flexible Data Rate) interfaces according to ISO 11898-1:2015. They are driven by the ISO 16845:2004 certified esdACC (esd advanced CAN Core) implemented in the Altera FPGA.

The FPGA supports bus mastering (first-party DMA) to transfer data to the host memory. This results in a reduction of overall latency on servicing I/O transactions in particular at higher data rates and a reduced host CPU load.
Due to the usage of MSI (Message Signaled Interrupts) the XMC-CAN/402-4-FD can be operated for example in Hypervisor environments.
The XMC-CAN/402-4-FD provides high resolution 64-bit hardware timestamps for CAN messages.

An optional IRIG-B for the XMC-CAN/402-4-FD-IRIG-B offers an additional IRIG-B interface via DSUB25 connector for analog or RS-422 IRIG-B coded signals. Both inputs are electrically isolated. The IRIG-B functionality is controlled by an 8051 microcontroller integrated in the FPGA.

CAN Bus FD Board With Real-Time Clock For Raspberry Pi

CAN Bus FD Board With Real-Time Clock For Raspberry Pi

The PiCAN FD board provides CAN Bus FD (Flexible Data Rate) capability for the Raspberry Pi 3. It uses the Microchip MCP2517FD CAN FD controller with MCP2562FD CAN transceiver. Developed by Bosch, CAN with Flexible Data-Rate (CAN FD) is an extension to the original CAN protocol as specified in ISO 11898-1 that responds to increased bandwidth requirements in automotive networks.

Connections are made via DB9 or 4 way screw terminal. The board is also available with a 5v 1A SMPS that can power the RPi as well via the screw terminal or DB9 connector.

A real time clock with battery back up (battery not included) is also on the board. There is an easy-to-install SocketCAN driver, and programming can be done in C or Python.

XMC And PMC CAN Bus interface Board With Four CAN FD Ports

ESD Electronics has expanded their 402 series of CAN boards with two mezzanine systems, XMC and PMC, both providing a CAN Bus interface board with four CAN FD ports. The XMC-CAN/402-4-FD and PMC-CAN/402-4-FD are able to send CAN frames back-to-back over four channels. The interface-boards handle 100 % bus load and support the CAN FD protocol. These cards are [...]
