Gemac Chemnitz Combined Acceleration Sensor And Gyroscope With SAE J1939 Connectivity

Gemac Chemnitz (Germany) announced their dynamic inclinometer family of products featuring CANopen and SAE J1939 connectivity. The dynamic inclinometers provide angle measurements in moving applications. Combining an acceleration sensor with an angular rate sensor enables inclination measurements with a resolution of 0,01° and an accuracy better than ±2°. The one-dimensional measurement range is 360°, the two-dimensional versions support ±90°.

The sensor comes with a CAN interface. Optionally, it supports CANopen (CiA 410 compliant) or SAE J1939. The product is shock resistant up to 100 g. The integrated gyroscope compensates the measured inclination values. The sensors can be mounted horizontally or vertically. They are intended for use in mobile machinery.

The company offers also inclinometers without gyroscopes. These products suppress just vibrations by means of digital filters. They are combined with angular rate sensor compensating accelerations.

PiCAN with GPS - Gyro - Accelerometer CAN-Bus Board for Raspberry Pi 3

The PiCAN GPS board provides CAN-Bus and GPS capability for the Raspberry Pi. It uses the Microchip MCP2515 CAN controller. CAN connections are made via 4 way screw terminal plugs. The GPS is provided by a 66-channels MTK3339 chipset module. An onboard battery holder exists for a CR1225 cell. The backup power is for the real time clock and helps reduce startup times. The GPS module has a built-in patch antenna but an external active antenna can also be used via uFL connector.

The MPU-6050 provides six axis gyro and accelerometer with an onboard Digital Motion Processor (DMPTM) capable of processing complex 9-axis MotionFusion algorithms. It does away with the cross-axis alignment problems that can creep up on discrete parts. Easy to install SocketCAN driver. Programming can be done in C or Python.
